Introduction
The hospital physical structure consists of eight blocks, two houses, a general purpose house, an incinerator and a garbage dump. These are hereby described in detail.
1. An Administrative Block.
This houses the following:- i. Boardroom ii. Six administrative offices iii. A general purpose room iv. A Records room v. The Laboratory vi. The Imaging (X-ray & Ultrasound) room vii. Switchboard & Information Center
2. An Outpatient Block.
This houses the following:- i. A Nursing consultation room i. Two doctors’ consultation rooms (Examination and Treatment rooms)
3. A General Hospital Block.
This houses the following:- i. A Pharmacy iii. Two Consultation Rooms iv. A General Theatre (Operating Room) v. An adult medical & surgical ward (general, semi-private & private rooms) vi. Nursing Station vii. Casualty (Accidents & Emergency) room viii. A Children’s ward
4. A Maternity Block.
This houses the following i. Reception Center ii. Antenatal/Waiting Room iii. Midwives’ examination room iv. Doctor’s Examination room v. Obstetric ward (General and Private rooms) vi. Midwives Nursing Station vii. Neonatal (Incubation) Room viii Labour Suite (3 delivery rooms)
5. Dining Block Dining Block.
This consists of the following:- i. Two dining rooms/cafeterias (Hospital staff & Public) ii. Kitchen (Electric/gas & Wood/Charcoal-outside)
6. Laundry Block Laundry Block.
This consists of:- i. An electric washing room with washing machines & driers ii. A Hand washing room iii. Ironing tables
7. Stores Building.
Stores Building. This houses the following:- i. Three strong stores on the ground floor ii. Three general purpose/duty rooms on the top floor iii. Water tanks on the flat roof
8. The Mortuary Block.
The Mortuary Block. This consists of:- i. A mortuary room ii. A sharps pit iii. An organic human waste pit (placentas etc)
9. Residentials.
A Resident doctor’s house This is a 3-bedroom self contained house with a garage and store. A Resident Nurses’ house for two. This is a two bedroom self contained furnished house with a four-piece bathroom.
10. Waste Management.
